Michele Baptiste received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston University in 1997 and a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University in 2000. At Albany Law School, Ms. Baptiste was a member of the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology.
Additionally, Ms. Baptiste was a member of the Moot Court Board where she coached the labor law appellate advocacy team; was a semi-finalist in the Donna Morse Client Counseling Competition and an octofinalist in the Wagner National Labor and Employment Law Competition.
While attending Albany Law School, Ms. Baptiste was a judicial intern in the Albany County Family Court under the supervision of the Honorable W. Dennis Duggan. She also worked as an intern for the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York, the New York State Governor’s Office of Employee Relations and the Civil Service Employee's Association, Local 1000.
Upon graduating from Albany Law School, Ms. Baptiste began her legal career as an Agency Attorney at the New York City Department of Education’s ("NYC DOE") Office of Labor Relations. At the NYC DOE, Ms. Baptiste successfully handled labor arbitrations and hearings before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board.
In 2003, Ms. Baptiste joined the labor and employment law boutique of Rains & Pogrebin, P.C., in Mineola, New York. At Rains & Pogrebin, Ms. Baptiste conducted sexual harassment investigations, filed positions statements with the New York State Division of Human Rights, represented clients at Education Law 3020-a hearings, labor arbitration hearings, interest arbitration hearings and labor negotiations. Ms. Baptiste has also represented clients at worker's compensation hearings, unemployment hearings, Civil Service 75 hearings, mediations and State and Federal court proceedings.
